The payload team develops a dedicated component required by the IREC/Spaceport America Competition. The rules and regulations provide constraints on size and mass but the team is able to decide the scope of the payload itself. Payload works closely with various aspects of the rocketry team to come together and provide a final product. Last year’s payload was a mix of sensors and a black box to act as a backup for the main stack. A crucial component was also the main camera system, which will be an integral part of all payloads moving forward.
