Illinois Space Day

Illinois Space Day (ISD) is our flagship educational outreach event that promotes space and STEM education amongst elementary and middle school students! The goal of ISD is to provide a fun, educational, and enriching STEM experience to the Champaign-Urbana community and beyond. 2023 will mark the 10th annual ISD. Read more about how to participate in ISD below!

ISS is excited to announce the 10th annual Illinois Space Day! Voyage into the Cosmos will take place on September 23, 2023. ISD 2023 will be at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Campus! There will be engineering and scientific demonstrations, hands-on activities, and a guest STEM speaker. In the past, exhibits have included hands-on activities such as creating your own moon craters, making straw rockets, pulling built rovers through obstacle courses, and a hybrid engine demonstration. We have many activities planned as we mark a decade of ISS Educational Outreach's largest event! This event will be completely free.

Location: Digital Computer Laboratory first floor - 1304 W Springfield Ave, Urbana, IL 61801

Entrance: Please enter on the west entrance so we can easily get everyone to check in.

Parking: The closest lots that are free for visitors on

weekends are lots B1, B4, and B17. These can all be put

into your maps app for directions, and the image to the

right shows the DCL, entrance, and all 3 parking lots for

reference. All of those lots are within easy walking

distance to the DCL. If those all fill up, which they likely will not, finding street parking is most likely the best

option, as other parking lots in the area will be permit only.
