Illinois Space Day

On behalf of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the Illinois Space Society (ISS) would like to invite all students in grades K-8 to the 12th annual Illinois Space Day (ISD). This FREE EVENT is hosted on the UIUC campus.

The goal of ISD is to provide an accessible and enriching STEM experience to the Urbana-Champaign community and beyond. Students will enjoy a day full of learning, experimenting, designing, and most importantly fun! There will be engineering and scientific demonstrations, hands-on activities, and a guest STEM speaker! In the past exhibits have included hands-on activities such as creating your own moon craters, making straw rockets, and designing & testing Mars rovers, as well as demonstrations such as a hybrid rocket engine hot fire!

ISD 2026 – See Space in A New Light will take place on September 19th on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s campus!

Location: Digital Computer Laboratory first floor - 1304 W Springfield Ave, Urbana, IL 61801

Entrance: Please enter on the west entrance so we can easily get everyone to check in. 

Parking: The closest lots that are free for visitors on

weekends are lots B1, B4, and B17. These can all be put

into your maps app for directions, and the image to the

right shows the DCL, entrance, and all 3 parking lots for

reference. All of those lots are within easy walking

distance to the DCL. If those all fill up, which they likely will not,

finding street parking is most likely the best

option, as other parking lots in the area will be permit only.
